The Trustee's office is responsible for collecting the county's property taxes, administering the Property Tax Relief Program, and accounting for and disbursing county tax funds.
Jimmy D. Byrd serves as Scott County's Trustee. He was born March 14, 1954 in Scott County, and graduated from Norma High School in 1971. He was elected in 1998 and re-elected to his third term in 2006. In 2000 he was awarded the designation of Certified Public Administrator by The University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service. In 2004 he was inducted as the East Tennessee Trustee's Association Trustee of the Year, and was elected as the vice president of the East Tennessee Trustee's Association. He is married to Mary Lois Byrd. They have two daughters, Sara and Jessica Byrd.
